Designate Your Internet Browser Settings

Most default browser settings allow you to view pay statements without problems. However, to make sure that your personal information is secure and that you have no difficulty viewing your information, ADP strongly recommends the following security settings depending on your Internet browser:.

Important: Please check with your Product Administrator for the appropriate browser. Following these recommendations will prevent historical files of your pay statement, annual statements, and other information of this type from being left behind on your PC.

Microsoft® Internet Explorer®

To configure your security settings for Microsoft Internet Explorer, do the following.

  1. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.

  2. From the browser menu, select Tools ~ Internet Options and select the following settings:

    Do the following

    General

    For Internet Explorer 6, from the Temporary Internet Files area:

    • Click Settings.

    • From the Check for newer versions of stored pages area, select the Every visit to the page option.

     

    For Internet Explorer 7 or 8, from the Browsing history area:

    • Click Settings to display the Temporary Internet Files and History Settings dialog box.

    • In the Check for newer versions of stored pages, select the Every time I visit the webpage option.

    Security

    From the Security level for this zone area:

    • Click Custom Level to display the Security Settings dialog box.

    • In the Settings area,  scroll to the Scripting section and verify that Enable is selected for the Active scripting option.

    Note: Some settings are managed by your system administrator so you may not have access to a specific security setting. For more information, see your system administrator.

    Privacy

    From the Settings area,

    • Click Advanced to display the Advanced Privacy Settings dialog box.

    • In the Cookies area, verify that the Override automatic cookie handling check box is cleared.

    Advanced

    Scroll to the appropriate area and select the following settings.

    • In Browsing section, select the Enable page transitions option.

    • In the HTTP 1.1 Settings section, select the Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connection and Use HTTP 1.1 options.

    • In the Security section, select the Do not save encrypted pages to disk, Empty Temporary Internet Files Folder when browser is closed, Use SSL 3.0, and Use SSL 2.0 options.

  1. Click OK.

  2. From the browser menu, select Help ~ About Internet Explorer and verify that the Cipher Strength setting is 128-bit. If your browser does not meet this requirement, have your PC support person update your browser.

Mozilla™ Firefox®

To configure your security settings for Firefox, do the following:

  1. Start Firefox and select Tools ~ Options from the browser menu.

  2. Select the following settings from the indicated tabs:

    Do the following

    Advanced

    Select Encryption and then in the Protocols area,  verify that the Use SSL 3.0 option is selected.

    Privacy

    For Firefox 3.5.5, select the following:

    Under History:

    • Verify that Accept Cookies from sites and Accept third-party cookies are selected.

    • Verify under Firefox will: that Use custom settings for history is selected.

    • Verify that Remember my browser history for at least  XX days is selected and select the Remember download history option.

    • Select Clear history when Firefox closes.

    • In the Settings area,  verify that all History and Data items are selected.

    For Firefox 3.6, select the following:

    From the History area, select Use custom settings for history in the Firefox will: field. Additional settings are displayed:

    • Verify that Accept Cookies from sites and Accept third-party cookies are selected.

    • Verify that Remember my browser history for at least  XX days is selected and select the Remember download history option.

    • Select Clear history when Firefox closes.

    • Click Settings to display the Settings for Clearing History dialog box. Verify that all options are selected in the History and Data areas.

    Security

    From the Passwords area, clear the Remember passwords for sites option. Verify that the Use a master password option is not selected.

    Content

    Verify that the Block pop-up windows option is not selected.

  1. Click OK.

Apple® Safari® Application Program

To configure your security settings for Safari, do the following:

  1. Start Safari and then Preferences from the displayed drop-down menu.

  2. Click the  Security tab and make the following selections:

 

  1. In this area

    Select or clear this option

    Fraudulent sites

    Select Warn when visiting a fraudulent website.

    Web content

    Select Enable plug-ins.

    Select Enable java.

    Select Enable JavaScript.

    Clear Block pop-up windows.

     

    Accept cookies

    Select Only from sites I visit (Block cookies from third parties and advertisers.)

     

    Select Ask before sending a non-secure form from a secure website.

  1. Close dialog box.
