Select Storage Preferences for Adobe® Reader® Software

Note: Depending on how your company is set up to view pay statements, Adobe Reader may not be required. If it is required, you will see the Adobe Reader icon on the Home page after you log in.

Important: Adobe Reader may store previously viewed PDF images in the temporary internet files folder. To prevent these images from being stored locally, do the following.

Preventing PDF Images from Being Stored Locally by Adobe Reader 7.0 Software

  1. Start Adobe Reader.

  2. From the menu, select Edit ~ Preferences ~ General.

  3. Select Startup. The Opening Documents option is displayed.

  4. Clear the Use Page Cache option to prevent Adobe Reader from storing the next page of a PDF image in a local cache.

Preventing PDF Images from Being Stored Locally by Adobe Reader 8.0 and 9.0 Software

  1. Start Adobe Reader.

  2. From the menu, select Edit ~ Preferences. The Preferences dialog box displays.

  3. In the Categories field, select the Page Display option.

  4. From the Rendering area, select the Use page cache option to prevent Adobe Reader from storing the next page of a PDF image in a local cache.

Verifying an Additional Security Setting in Microsoft® Internet Explorer® When Using Adobe Reader Software

It is important to verify that an additional security setting when using Microsoft Internet Explorer. To verify this setting, do the following.

  1. From the Internet Explorer menu, select Tools ~ Internet Options.

  2. Click the Advanced tab. From the Settings field, scroll to display the Security category and select the Do not save encrypted pages to disk option.

  3. Click OK.
